The 6th Annual Working Time Change Forum

An overview of the 5th Annual Working Time Forum which took place in March 2011 at the Celtic Manor Resort

14th & 15th March 2012,
Celtic Manor Resort, South Wales

“The Economic and Financial case for change and the principles of Lean Employee Resourcing”
Suitable for both private and public sectors

The Working Time Change Forum covers a broad range of working time issues that commonly affect organisations – especially relevant in today’s economic climate. This two day residential forum brings together organisations from a broad range of sectors. Delegates have the opportunity to hear and learn from organisations who have themselves implemented working time change strategies utilising Lean Employee Resourcing methods – including the benefits achieved and the pitfalls to avoid.

Subjects Covered

Day 1 will be taking a hard look at the massive financial benefits which can be achieved by using Lean Employee Rourcing and Day 2 will look at how organisations actually implement these strategies including real case studies from guest speakers and the theory behind Lean Employee Resourcing.

  • How the financial imperative to reduce and control labour costs is driving positive change, retention of skills and maintenance and creation of jobs in both public and private sectors. Why overtime cultures, agency and contractor dependence no longer meet the need for cost predictable flexibility in the workplace. How Lean-ER, Annualisation and Demand-led strategies help
  • Working Time Change Presentation
  • Working time change - What are the paybacks and benefits and where exactly do they come from? An examination of labour cost versus headcount strategies, the cost of redundancy, non-productive time and premium pay for voluntary mechanisms, the cost of labour management and achieving greater or lesser capacity/throughput
  • The principles of Lean Employee Resourcing (Lean-ER)
  • Overcoming dependency on expensive overtime and demand-led rostering techniques and shift pattern design
  • Change management tactics and the design and development process and the analysis of supply and demand
  • Understanding what impact shift work has on Health and Safety
  • The legal aspects to working time change

By looking differently at how your employee resources are deployed, using technology to develop and manage new working arrangements and shift patterns that match demand (even when it changes throughout the year) and giving team members more flexibility about when they work;  productivity increases, efficiency is improved and costs begin to fall. It is an approach referred to as Lean Employee Resourcing (Lean-ER) and this will be discussed in detail at the Forum.

Working Time Change ForumThe forum also features leading employment law specialists who will be covering the legal aspects which need to be considered when introducing working time change and the Health and Safety Executive will be discussing the impact shift work has on Health and Safety.

Featuring expert Lean-ER specialists, delegates will also have the opportunity to hear directly from speakers who use the Lean-ER approach including:

  • Thames Water - The UK's largest water and sewerage company
  • Accolade Wines - The number one wine company by volume in the UK and Australia
  • Celtic Manor Resort - Voted Wales’ Leading Hotel, World Travel Awards 2007

The forum also includes leading employment law specialists ClarksLegal LLP who will be covering the legal aspects which need to be considered when introducing working time change and the Health and Safety Executive will be discussing the impact shift work has on Health and Safety. We are pleased to announce that the Trades Union Congress (TUC) will also be describing their positioning with regards to working time change.
